Sinossi
Myriam, Goodmann, Tassili.

Another disorientating book from yet another alter ego of the pseodonymous Antoine Volodine. The book is framed at start and end by 3 characters wandering some sort of no man's land, an intermediary stage between life and death known to Buddhists as the Bardo. The bulk of the story features many short Leggi tutto
They had weathered so much over the decades, and yet the house’s timbers never stopped cracking, especially in the darkest hours of the night. Perhaps closer to three stars and begging to be reread, as is the case with all post-exotic literature. Three secret services operatives are walking the bardo Leggi tutto
This is taking me a while, but it’s excellent. Skillfully translated from the French by Jeffrey Zuckerman, this frame story filled with short, unfinished tales is structurally reminiscent of Antoine Volodine’s “Minor Angels,” while cleaving thematically to Volodine heteronym Lutz Bassmann’s other tr Leggi tutto
Lutz Bassmann is one of the pseudonyms of the French avant-garde, sci-fi writer Antoine Volodine. As well as he is known in literary circles by his real name it is really worth deeming his other contributions under his other assumed names. So much so that I was expecting something different and uniq Leggi tutto
Very Volodine with giant birds etc & darkness, stench & blood in every (unfinished) vignette. I like the idea & the execution, where it falls down is that you can’t care for anybody as you know they’re going to be cut off mid sentence. Reminded me of César Aira in the settings, the mood, the… (see wh Leggi tutto
