Joey è un bambino dalla sconfinata capacità di immaginare. I suoi occhi vedono cose che gli altri non sanno cogliere, e ancor meno raccogliere. Lui invece raccoglie, e tanto, andando in giro con il suo carretto. Nella sua testa, le cose assumono un valore che nessun altro è in grado di intendere: una cassaforte è magica, un telescopio malconcio è celeste, una piuma di pappagallo è esotica... Se le sorelline lo prendono in giro e lo chiamano raccatta-spazzatura, i genitori invece lo prendono molto sul serio e arricchiscono di pezzi unici la sua già ricca collezione. Fino al giorno in cui una brutta tosse si porta via il papà e la casa si riempie di silenzio. A large part of my rating this 3 stars, rather than 2, is that I just like that there is now a children's picture book referencing artist Joseph Cornell.
