Sinossi
Nel 1887 viene pubblicato "Uno studio in rosso", romanzo che segna la nascita di un personaggio divenuto leggendario, Sherlock Holmes, il più famoso e brillante detective della storia. Un personaggio che regalò la fama al suo autore, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, fino ad allora medico squattrinato. Ma ecco come tutto ha avuto inizio. Di ritorno dalle colonie britanniche, John Watson, ex medico militare alla ricerca di un alloggio a buon mercato, fa la conoscenza di Sherlock Holmes, intento a trovare un coinquilino con cui dividere le spese. Il loro incontro è memorabile: da una semplice occhiata Holmes indovina il mestiere di Watson e tanti altri dettagli della sua vita, lasciando questi sbalordito. Ben presto Watson inizia a interessarsi al mestiere di Holmes, ed è affascinato dalle sue capacità deduttive, che di lì a poco ha la possibilità di osservare sul campo: il detective riceve infatti la richiesta di aiuto da parte di Scotland Yard, che lo coinvolge in un caso assai complesso. Dopo una serie incredibile di colpi di scena e brillanti trovate, Holmes riuscirà a scoprire il colpevole, risolvendo un caso che sembrava insolubile.
