**Update: I have been told that since this book was written Fr Bunge converted to Orthodoxy.** Absolutely amazing! If there were a handbook for prayer that was handed out at baptism this should be it. The author clearly understands and loves prayer, and this shows through on every page. Some of the t Leggi tutto

This book will teach you how to pray in an authentic way. It is worth reading if you want to start praying or if you want to begin praying again. For those who are seeking how to keep their spiritual life from going dry this is your book!
Gabriel Bunge is fully immersed in the Fathers of the Church. If you want to know how to pray, what to pray, where to pray, when you pray according to the Holy Fathers, this is your book.
This book offers a great overview of the prayer practices of the Early Church Fathers and insights into these practices. The text is very simple and straightforward, and I can't but recommend it to anyone wishing to improve their own prayer life.
If you want to know why you ought to be facing east when you pray, read this book. It's interesting, insightful, and gives a different take on the methodology of prayer than evangelicals like me usually get.
Awesome book on personal prayer.Explains very profound ideas in a very clear way. This is a keeper. I would also add that I had never considered outward forms, such as facing East as important. This book has helped me understand some of the rituals that we have forgotten along the way.
