Ispirato a un’incredibile storia vera
Anna non riesce a rassegnarsi alla perdita dell’amatissima madre Ines. Così, quando riceve per posta la sua eredità, la accoglie come un regalo prezioso. A incuriosirla è in particolare una scatola piena di fogli scritti a mano e ingialliti dal tempo. Pagine e pagine fitte di inchiostro, scritte in italiano, che sembrano risalire a svariati decenni prima.
Determinata a ricostruire la storia della sua famiglia, di cui ha sempre saputo molto poco, Anna lascia l’Inghilterra e raggiunge il piccolo paese di Rofelle, in Toscana. Quella meravigliosa terra baciata dal sole e costellata di alberi di ulivo la accoglie con tenerezza materna.

L’incontro con un anziano signore, che sussulta nel sentire il nome di Ines ma si rifiuta di rispondere alle domande di Anna, alimenterà in lei il desiderio di svelare i segreti che hanno distrutto la sua famiglia. Ma una volta scoperta la verità, sarà in grado di accettarla?
