Nello spettacolare mondo dell'immaginazione dell'autrice, ci sono i "contatori" (che tracciano e sfruttano i desideri) e ci sono gli "elusori" (che hanno capito quanto costi dare un morso alla casa di marzapane). Se "Il tempo è un bastardo" era stato organizzato come un concept album, "La casa di marzapan" adotta la poetica della Electronic Dance Music, e richiama anche giochi, portali e mondi alternativi dando spesso l'impressione di muoversi tra le dimensioni di un gioco di ruolo. "La casa di marzapane" è una sorta di sequel de "Il tempo è un bastardo", di cui riprende alcuni personaggi, alcuni punti della trama e la polifonicità ipnotica e meravigliosa degli stili. È un romanzo elettrizzante e commovente che ci parla di noi oggi, della ricerca di autenticità e significato in un mondo dove ricordi e identità non sono più privati e dove le nuove tecnologie aprono continuamente ulteriori, inquietanti scenari. Un libro selvaggiamente ambizioso per i temi che tratta e per il modo in cui li tratta.
