I genitori di Sophia hanno sempre vissuto una vita tranquilla e anonima. Perlomeno è quanto credeva Sophia, fino al giorno, un giorno come tanti altri, in cui va a trovarli e, arrivando, nota che la casa è particolarmente silenziosa. Suona il campanello, ma nessuno viene ad aprire la porta. Sorpresa più che preoccupata, Sophia fa il giro del giardino, dove si immobilizza di fronte una scoperta agghiacciante: vede la madre impiccata a un albero, e il padre a terra in una pozza di sangue, ancora vivo ma incosciente. La polizia crede che si tratti di un tentato omicidio e suicidio, ma Sophia non riesce a credere che la madre sia un’assassina, e poiché il padre non è in grado di parlare, sta a lei convincere gli investigatori.
Alla ricerca di prove, Sophia inizia a frugare nella casa dei suoi genitori e della sua infanzia e a scavare nella vita della sua famiglia. Fino a quando non incappa in due quaderni che a quanto pare la madre stava per pubblicare, che raccontano un passato di cui lei ignorava completamente l’esistenza, e da cui capisce che dei suoi genitori in realtà lei sapeva ben poco…
Inquietante, avvolgente, Niente è come credi è uno psicothriller che tiene incollati alla pagina fino allo sconvolgente e imprevedibile finale.

This psychological thriller is a good quick read and certainly a page turner. I enjoyed this novel and throughout the book wanted to carry on reading to find out what happens next.
