Quando Marie scompare, Clara farà di tutto per ritrovarla: vuole salvarla, proprio come ha fatto con i libri. Solo così, forse, potrà finalmente liberarsi da una colpa che non riesce a dimenticare.
L’esordio di Kate Thompson è diventato un successo in Inghilterra grazie al passaparola. Non poteva che essere così, perché è uno di quei romanzi che risuonano nei lettori. Storie che commuovono, perché ci mostrano il lato migliore dell’umanità. In Sotto le strade di Londra, l’autrice ha preso spunto da una reale biblioteca nascosta nella metropolitana che ha salvato centinaia di vite, non solo perché è stata un rifugio per chi scappava dalle bombe, ma anche perché nei libri c’è la possibilità di trovare salvezza.
