Nel 1948 nacque lo Stato d'Israele. Ma nel 1948 ebbe luogo anche la Nakba ('catastrofe'), ovvero la cacciata di circa 250.000 palestinesi dalla loro terra. La vulgata israeliana ha sempre narrato che in quell'anno, allo scadere del Mandato britannico in Palestina, le Nazioni Unite avevano proposto di dividere la regione in due Stati: il movimento sionista era d'accordo, ma il mondo arabo si oppose; per questo, entrò in guerra con Israele e convinse i palestinesi ad abbandonare i territori - nonostante gli appelli dei leader ebrei a rimanere - pur di facilitare l'ingresso delle truppe arabe. La tragedia dei rifugiati palestinesi, di conseguenza, non sarebbe direttamente imputabile a Israele. This book doesn't need a review. It's a piece of living history, it should be school material instead of the lies and rubbish TV churns out on a daily basis. So well documented, so much empathy. So much respect for this man having the courage to write the truth.
