THE BEST collection of gothic/ghostly shorts I've ever read - this is a large collection, and they are all good. There are additional Christmas ghost stories by Riddell, available as separate purchases, and equally good.

Totally okay collection. If you're already into Victorian ghost stories, this is a nice book to pick up; if you're not, I'd recommend a more accessible author like Gaskell or James first.
I enjoyed this book of spooky stories, but I felt that many of the stories had interesting buildup only for the reveal/resolution to be a bit anticlimactic. In the old style of decency and imagination Wonderful pictures of a bygone era... Not a four-letter word to be found, and so much the better for it.
