Jo Blackmore sta per correre all’asilo a prendere sua figlia Elise quando una donna si avvicina alla macchina e le chiede un passaggio. Purtroppo il loro matrimonio è in crisi, anche perché Max considera la moglie instabile e inaffidabile, tanto che non sembra credere alle sue parole riguardo all’aggressione e alle minacce della sconosciuta.
Lo sgradevole incontro si trasforma da un giorno all’altro in un vero incubo e la polizia, i servizi sociali e perfino il marito voltano le spalle a Jo e iniziano a sospettare di lei.
Nessuno le crede, quando dice che Elise è in pericolo.
In un gioco di inganni in cui niente è come sembra, Jo sa che le resta un solo modo per proteggere sua figlia: la fuga.

The story hooked me from the start and its fast pace made me finish it in a day. On the other hand, the plot didn't stand out from other mysteries and the characters weren't likable nor very smart (I was on the verge of yelling at some of them!).
