L'atto di confrontarsi con situazioni estremamente difficili, ci dice Gladwell, spesso genera il coraggio, la determinazione e la creatività indispensabili per aprire nuove opportunità e rendere possibili cose altrimenti inimmaginabili. E consente anche di vedere i "giganti" con occhi diversi, scoprendo proprio nelle qualità in cui sembra risiedere la loro forza un motivo di grande fragilità.
