C'è persino una compagnia teatrale, perfetta per fare conoscenze e distrarsi un po'. Ma tra le stradine acciottolate di Lockwood non tutto è privo di ombre. Lizzy, la collega che ha introdotto Sam nella filodrammatica, dà l'impressione di nutrire per lei un morboso interesse. C'è poi una strana raccolta fondi lanciata dalla famiglia Hayward - la più ricca della città - che pare nascondere altro. Qualcuno inizia a fare domande in giro, troppe, e lo uccidono. Un colpevole viene subito trovato, ma due giovani studentesse di Legge, Charlotte e Femi, sono convinte che qualcosa non quadri. Eppure la verità, lo sentono, è davanti ai loro occhi.
