Un misterioso collezionista di libri nel 1940 offrì a Henry Miller cento dollari al mese per scrivere dei racconti erotici. Miller cominciò entusiasta, ma si stancò presto e passò l'incarico all'amica Anaïs Nin che aveva bisogno di soldi.
