if only the book was as good as the art

A short read where you get the exact power trip you were hoping for. Overlord is still far darker than the fantasy I’m generally used to, but I genuinely enjoy the characters and am here for the ride

This was far more entertaining than the first volume.

There was a lot of POV changes that I couldn't keep up with. This follows Ains scouting for information and making a name for himself as an adventurer. It's a bit slower than the first, but the cliff hanger is perfect.

It's been a *while* since I read the first volume of Overlord; I think it's been a little over a year at least. So I don't quite remember all the details of the first novel, but I remember enjoying it a lot for the most part. Unfortunately, I don't have the same positive reception to this volume. The writer overexplain everything - in almost every paragraph is explanation of something that doesn't even need to be written out.
