4.5 stars. We have read this a lot and it’s still charming, and the animals act like real children, which I like.

A lovely, gentle book. my 16m old loved it

Excellent simple story for a toddler to follow along with a relate to. I've read this almost every day for the last week (because it keeps being requested) and my kid is so excited to turn the pages quickly to get to the plot resolution and explain what happened in her own words.

I read this book with my daughter. I brought her almost all the Acorn Wood Stories by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. This is a new series that we have started reading together. It’s really nice and colourful. I enjoy Scheffler’s illustrations.
