Leon vive in un elegante appartamento con la giovane moglie Natalie, in un condominio progettato da un famoso architetto. Nonostante tutto sembri procedere per il meglio, l'uomo comincia a notare qualche dettaglio sospetto e un giorno la moglie scompare nel nulla. Leon è tormentato dall'idea di aver commesso qualcosa di irrimediabile e che siano tornati a manifestarsi i sintomi della grave forma di sonnambulismo che aveva funestato la sua adolescenza. Già allora, infatti, in quel durissimo periodo, innescato dalla morte di entrambi i genitori, aveva avuto episodi violenti che lo avevano costretto per anni a seguire una cura psichiatrica.
