Thomasine vive da mesi nella grande casa di Henrietta, dove ci sono tante camere e lunghi corridoi, ma nemmeno uno specchio. Suo padre passa le giornate al capezzale dell'anziana prozia malata, mentre lei gira per la casa con i cugini: la piccola Signe, l'odioso Erland, e Wilma, più grande, che fa la prima superiore e ha due anni più di Thomasine. Un giorno Signe scopre che gli specchi di casa sono tutti ammucchiati nell'armadio di una stanza ottagonale. Thomasine e Signe ci entrano insieme, chiudono l'anta alle loro spalle e... quando ne escono, si ritrovano in una casa che è uguale e diversa al tempo stesso. Di cosa si tratta? E chi è quella ragazzina, Hetty, vestita alla marinara? Ciò che i cugini scoprono non è affatto un altro mondo. Read this in the space of a TAFE lunch time - absolutely fantastic. Short, sweet and unsettling. It never ceases to amaze me how someone can write a 170-page novel which tells a deeper and more intriguing and emotional story than a book which is 500+ pages. Them Swedes. 10/10, very recommended.

Totally loved this book. Despite the fact that it is a children's book and is a rather short read, it spoke to me on a more deeper level. Amazing book. Short story, but so cute and creepy and the same time. Good characters, events and a great conclusion. A fantastic book and recommended for all ages.
Short, sweet, and magical. Loved every minute of it.
