Un tempo, resuscitare i morti (per un breve periodo) era considerato magia nera. La polizia brancola nel buio e anche Anita è perplessa: nessuna delle creature che lei ben conosce - vampiri, licantropi, necrofagi - può aver commesso delitti di quel tipo. Ma poi un'idea terribile si fa strada nella sua mente: e se qualcun altro avesse resuscitato lo zombie pluricentenario e quello zombie fosse un killer? Decisa a fermare l'assassino, Anita sa che Dominga Salvador, la più potente sacerdotessa voodoo del Nord America, potrebbe chiarire molte cose, ma è pure consapevole che allearsi con la Señora equivale a stringere un patto col diavolo?
