Sinossi

I can't put my finger on what made this book such a page-turner. It seems like it's just an ordinary love story about a couple who meet in Boston and move to NYC where they live a happy well-adjusted life with the usual bumps and curves. But there is something about the tone of the book that gives i Leggi tutto
Each man and woman might have a different dream for the good life, but dreams come together for well-heeled Roger Goldenhar and the earnest social worker, Stacy, when they meet in a bakery and find they have more in common than just a love for lemon cake. Roger’s longing for the affirmations of real Leggi tutto
I received a free copy of The Good Life by Marian Thurm in a give-away from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. This is a story revolving around a husband, Roger Goldenhar, his wife Stacy and their two children Olivia and Will. From the first page of the novel, the reader knows something hor Leggi tutto
The first half of The Good Life worked well, if predictably. A woman in her 30s, Harvard graduate, working in a non profit social service job with what is now being called "the unhoused" population meets a man about 10 years her senior, long divorced and falls in love. Sort of. She's not sure what l Leggi tutto
Dark and mesmerizing...you know from the moment you meet that gun that this story won't end well. The couple whose lives we inhabit starts so charmingly in that Boston muffin shop, and their charmed lives are so enviable. They have it all--until they don't. Marian Thurm takes the reader on an utterl Leggi tutto
Good book. It definitely had a strong ending. Kind of a surprise. Didn't turn out like I thought, which was good. This guy, Roger, buys a gun and doesn't tell anyone, in the first page of the book. So you tear through the book to see where he ends up pointing it.
After finishing this book, I had to sit quietly by myself for a long time. With the tension tightening on every single page right up to the end, this novel is a story that will make you feel "some kind of way." Definitely recommend.
