Lucy è un’insegnante di lettere, quarantaduenne, con due figli e un ex marito che con molta difficoltà cerca di essere almeno un padre decente. Sullo sfondo di una storia d’amore piena di colpi di scena, arricchita da personaggi irresistibili perché incredibilmente veri, c’è la Londra divisa dalla scelta sull’Europa, che sembra spaccare il mondo in due: in famiglia, sul lavoro e in tutte le relazioni. Nick Hornby ci racconta, con la sua ironia sempre carica di profondità, che c’è un modo per vivere nelle differenze, per superare i pregiudizi, in amore come in politica. E che per fare un pezzo di strada insieme forse non è necessario, e nemmeno desiderabile, trovare qualcuno che sia proprio come te.

The topic of a Brexit has been dealt with before, but for me, Hornby has made a better fist of things than, say, Jonathan Coe, whose 'Middle England' was nominated for the Booker Prize last year.
