"Orfeo emerso" è un breve romanzo di Jack Kerouac scritto dal capofila della Beat Generation a soli ventitré anni. Racconta le passioni, i sogni, gli amori e i conflitti di un gruppo di giovani universitari "bohémiens" in cerca della propria verità. Opera parzialmente autobiografica, a cui Kerouac mise mano dopo aver incontrato Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs e gli altri amici con cui avrebbe dato vita alla Beat Generation, "Orfeo emerso" può essere oggi letto come un singolare "ritratto dell'artista da giovane", in cui già si distingue l'inconfondibile voce dello scrittore capace di esprimere lo spirito di una generazione e di intere generazioni a venire.
