As much as I loved the first book in the series, this one was a big disappointment. The story picks up where Mr. Darcy leaves Netherfield and he and Elizabeth do not meet again for some time. Well-written, but deeply, DEEPLY weird. So not at all what I would have expected from a Jane Austen pastiche. The dip into Gothic romance felt bizarre and mismatched, especially when compared to An Assembly Such As This, which was pitch-perfect Austen, and I simply didn't believe that the character
