Il capitalismo non ci guiderà fuori dalla crisi. Qualsiasi ricetta economica basata su una crescita continua porta alla distruzione del pianeta. L'unica possibilità è tirare il freno. Dobbiamo tornare all'essenziale, alle cose concrete, alla comunità. Riscoprire, insomma, quella che Marx definiva «la relazione metabolica tra uomo e natura».
