Nel 1792 Mary Wollstonecraft sconvolse la comunità britannica con un'opera sorprendente e all'avanguardia. Sui diritti delle donne esamina con occhio oggettivo e critico la posizione della donna nella società, portando alla luce le cause, le conseguenze e le ingiustizie di dogmi e pregiudizi considerati corretti solo per abitudine o convenienza, puntando il dito contro le sue stesse sorelle che accettano la loro sorte di buon grado, anziché ribellarsi. Un prezioso documento storico, una tra le prime opere che imposero solide fondamenta alla lotta per i diritti delle donne.
