Sinossi

3.5 stars One of the most impressive elements of this story is the character of Mother herself. Even though she has every reason to get really upset and throw a fit, she behaves with impressive integrity arguing her points with logic and respect. Her every action shows humility and strength. I found this book as a recommendation I can't quite remember where, but as a pro-feminist collection of work coupled with its early publication date I knew I had to get at it. As it turns out, Mary Wilkins Freeman is an easy-to-grasp writer, her personal language is simple and doesn't flutter about
i read this short story in my school library and at the end I laughed because I felt it was ridiculous and very unrealistic but then it was old time of America. I tried to picture a women in apron whose nature is selfless and her views 'archaic' (according to today's standard) and I realized it was
After forty years of marriage, Sarah Penn learns that her husband is building a second barn on the spot where long ago he had promised to put their new house. She takes matters into her own hands. New England humor.
So before her time, she was ostracized from society because of the forward thinking she possessed.
She had every right to do what she did.
I have arranged my takeaway thoughts into a haiku: "When one's conscience fails, There's always the chance this slight Is one too many."
