Basta una mano che chiude con gentilezza la porta della libreria per non farla sbattere, basta la scelta di un libro né troppo sofisticato né troppo sciocco, basta un maglione a V senza reggiseno, ed ecco che la fantasia di Joe si mette in moto. Joe è un libraio dell'East Village, ama il suo lavoro e ha una personalissima idea sui libri che bisognerebbe leggere, e poi ha un certo occhio per i suoi clienti. Non gli può sfuggire la giovane, carina, sessualmente provocante Guinevere Beck, aspirante scrittrice che ha appena varcato la soglia e ora vaga tra gli scaffali rifugiandosi tra la F e la K, lanciando dietro di sé un sorrisetto malizioso. Beck è tutto ciò che Joe ha sempre desiderato: glaciale e al contempo più sexy di qualsiasi fantasia estrema, ha l'aria da dura, e racconta un sacco di bugie che la rendono misteriosa e ancora più affascinante. E poi non la smette di scrivere, scrive di tutto tranne che il proprio romanzo: mail alle amiche, twitter, sms, un mondo intero di informazioni private facilmente accessibili e tutti sembrano essere molto, ma molto interessati a lei. Beck ancora non lo sa, ma lei è perfetta per Joe, è la sua anima gemella. E presto non potrà più resistere a un ragazzo che sembra disposto a tutto per lei. Ma c'è qualcosa che sfugge a entrambi. Qualcosa di Joe che Beck non ha del tutto realizzato. Qualcosa di nascosto dietro la meravigliosa facciata di Beck. E la loro reciproca ossessione potrebbe rivelarsi non così innocua...

I'm not sure what crazy people shelved this book as "romance". You is romantic in the same way that Lolita is romantic. In other words: an insane, obsessive and manipulative romance from the perspective of a charming psychopath. It's a fucked up tale told from the POV of a stalker who obsesses over a Leggi tutto
I finished this book while recovering from surgery. I was medicated and kind of loopy. Considering how weird this book is, it is kind of perfect! Not for the faint of heart! 4 stars One of the most thrilling books I have ever read. Quite enjoyed it, yet didn't like the ending at all. I liked that the characters were very complex and not 2 dimensional. Will definitely check the second book soon.
A ridiculous, nonsensical string of events paired with clunky writing like if Catcher in the Rye were written as bad erotica. I truly don't understand the point of this book other than to be gimmicky.
