Susie, quattordicenne, è stata assassinata da un serial killer che abita a due passi da casa. Ed è Susie che ci racconta tutto questo, aumentando così la nostra partecipazione emotiva. Lei "fa il tifo" per suo padre quando, opponendosi alla svolta che hanno preso le indagini della polizia, capisce chi è il vero assassino e, pur non avendo le prove, cerca d'incastrarlo. "Amabili resti" è un romanzo che ci commuove senza mai indulgere a sentimentalismi. Le vite dei genitori, dei fratelli e degli amici di Susie, spezzate dalla sua tragica scomparsa, vengono raccontate con lo spirito allegro e senza compromessi dell'adolescenza. E Susie aiuterà tutti, i lettori per primi, a riconciliarsi con il dolore del mondo.

The Lovely Bones has got to be the most baffling, poorly written, jaw-droppingly bad book that I have ever set my eyes on. It is truly a black, black tragedy that the words in this book were placed in that particular order, published, and distributed. How could this have ever possibly been popular?
