Sinossi

Recensioni
Previously titled "If it's not impossible...", this book has been "re-packaged" to coincide with the release of the film "One Life". Somewhat annoyingly, it has had no additional material added since it was first published in 2014. Therefore, there are a lot of references to what Nicky does now but h Leggi tutto
I stopped reading this for a while as it juxtaposed the normal working life of Nicholas Winton and the event that he is now rightly famous for - the rescue of 600 plus refugee children via Prague just before war broke out. It’s written by his daughter who of course knew him from the much later time Leggi tutto
An ordinary life… In the dictionary under modesty it should say, ‘See Nicholas Winton.’ To save 664 or 669 children at any time would be a most wonderful thing to have been part of, but to save them from the Nazis there is no description that would adequately sum up the magnitude of his actions. This Leggi tutto
This was originally published in 2014 under the title "If It's Not Impossible" (from Nicholas Winton's popular saying "If it's not impossible, there must be a way to do it.") This new edition, published to coincide with the recent film based on the book, is retitled "One Life", after the Jewish sayi Leggi tutto
This is a hard review to write, as I have not read the book ONE LIFE: THE TRUE STORY OF SIR NICHOLAS WINTON written by BARBARA WINTON, his daughter. On the other hand, I have read other books in which Sir Nicholas had been mentioned. His story was not unfamiliar to me. My wife and I attended a scre
I won this book along with the DVD of the recent film One Life. I had seen the clip from That's Life and knew a little of Nicholas Winton's story involving the Czech children. This is an affecionate but not whitewashed telling of the man and his life by his daughter. We get his childhood and upbring Leggi tutto
I really liked this book, but towards the end I started to get bored. This is only due to me watching the film first and thinking the book would be all about the film (like most books are), but it was still a good read - I will say if you have read the book and not see the film go and see it as it g Leggi tutto
While there are certainly many incredible parts to Nicholas Winton's biography, I didn't enjoy the actual way it was written as much. I also thought it'd focus on the kinder transport part of his life, but it was a more broad biography.
