Very cool. Barbarians not as enemies at the gates, but as a problem of bureaucratic breakdown leading to an inability to cope with them. Barbero has a gift for creating vivid images from his sources, all the more impressive considering a lot of it's based off Averil Cameron's The Later Roman Empire

bello. Una storia che non conoscevo e una situazione tramandata in maniere del tutto falsa finalmente chiarita. Bella scrittura, fonti e argomentazioni impeccabili.

È un po' come se fosse (e immagino sia davvero) la trasposizione scritta di un intervento di Barbero a qualche convegno di quelli che ci ascoltiamo sempre in Podcast. Fila liscio che è un piacere, ad averne di divulgatori così!
