Immaginate il più grande drive-in mai esistito: l'Orbit. Siamo in Texas, è un venerdì sera e l'Orbit è stipato di gente che sgomita per popcorn e coca-cola, pregustando la Grande Nottata Horror. Ma sul più bello, il drive-in stesso si trasforma in un film dell'orrore: gli spettatori diventano gli involontari ed esterrefatti protagonisti di un incubo orchestrato dal mostruoso Re del Popcorn, sintesi delle peggiori conseguenze dell'ossessione al consumo. E se in "Drive-in 2" vediamo i personaggi sopravvissuti aggirarsi in un paesaggio irriconoscibile, "La notte del drive-in 3" ci catapulterà definitivamente in un microcosmo ancora più delirante, un mondo di misteriose e inclassificabili meraviglie, in cui ci si imbatte in inondazioni di proporzioni bibliche, in un pesce gatto che aspira a ingoiarsi la balena di Giona e in una schiera di creature oscure, di una malvagità paragonabile solo a quella dell'essere umano al suo peggio.
