L'"Eutifrone" mette a nudo la povertà e la carenza strutturale del rapporto teologico della 'religione olimpica', incarnata dal sacerdote Eutifrone, e, tramite Socrate, mostra l'esigenza di una concezione religiosa totalmente rivoluzionaria e fondata sulla ricerca dialettico-filosofica del vero. E le conseguenze di tale rivoluzione sono enormi: anche se in via solo allusiva, Platone rivela, di ricercare in questo modo un nuovo rapporto tra l'uomo e il divino, un rapporto svincolato da quel 'commercio' fatto di scambi tra richieste e sacrifici propiziatori, a cui spesso si riduceva la religione greca tradizionale. Introdurre questo nuovo rapporto significa comprendere che dal divino viene all'uomo solo il bene e non il male.
