

Sinossi
Nei primi anni del ‘900, uno degli scambi più frequenti tra le due sponde dell’Atlantico è quello tra titoli nobiliari e grandi patrimoni. Come quello che è riuscito a fare Sir Nigel Anstruthers, un nobiluomo inglese ridotto in miseria, che ha sposato la newyorkese Rosalie Vanderpoel, figlia di un milionario. I am giving this a semi-solid three stars, not a solid three stars. 😐 I was prepared to give it a solid three stars for the first 350 pages but then I could not understand why she let the story drag on and on and on and on interminably (you get the idea?). This is a story of two American heiresses and two English Lords up against it during the time of American robber barons when a marriage between them could bring advantages to all and knitted bonds between the two countries. This review was written for the first time I read this novel...I've enjoyed it just as much on successive readings! Who knew that Frances Hodgson Burnett had written books besides The Secret Garden and A Little Princess? I had never heard of The Shuttle, but after this I will certainly be trying some Leggi tutto
