Ruby Lennox è stata concepita di malavoglia dalla madre, Bunty, ed è nata mentre suo padre, George, era fuori città a raccontare a una signora con un bel vestito verde di non essere sposato. Insomma, la storia dei Lennox è ben più complessa di quanto non possa apparire a prima vista, ed è popolata da una carrellata di personaggi tutti da scoprire.
