Place d'Arezzo a Bruxelles ospita misteriosamente da decenni pappagalli di ogni specie. Si dice che molto tempo fa un console brasiliano abbia liberato i suoi volatili che hanno così occupato il parco nella piazza, riproducendosi e popolando il posto con i loro colori sgargianti e le loro voci evocative. Attorno a questa piazza vivono vari personaggi che ricevono un giorno la stessa lettera autografa: "Questo biglietto solo per dirti che ti amo. Firmato: tu sai chi". Un messaggio d'amore, apparentemente innocuo, le cui conseguenze a catena però sconvolgeranno la vita degli abitanti della piazza, mischiandoli in un groviglio di eventi tragici o comici sempre più sorprendenti. Perché queste persone, ognuna con la sua storia, la sua vita sessuale, i suoi segreti, sono o diverranno molto più legate tra loro che non per il semplice fatto di vivere nello stesso luogo.

Ça y est, je suis pour la première fois très déçue par Schmitt. L'idée de départ du livre est très bien mais malheureusement très mal traitée. Beaucoup trop de personnages, ça part dans tous les sens et on se perd. Cerise sur le gâteau, un personnage ressemble à Strauss-Kahn et ça n'apporte strictem Leggi tutto
Dans ce roman Schmitt nous dépeint les mœurs des habitants de la place d'Arezzo. Il s'immisce dans leur vies intimes pour nous faire une critique de la société de nos jours. Le livre est un peu osé, mais le style fluide et agréable comme à l'habitude de ce merveilleux écrivain.
