È un ragazzo di nome Josef Ek che ha appena assistito al massacro della sua famiglia: la mamma e la sorellina sono state accoltellate davanti ai suoi occhi, e lui stesso è stato ritrovato in un lago di sangue, vivo per miracolo. Josef è ricoverato in grave stato di shock, non comunica con il mondo esterno. Ma è il solo testimone dell'accaduto e bisogna interrogarlo ora. Perché l'assassino vuole terminare l'opera uccidendo la sorella maggiore di Josef, scomparsa misteriosamente. C'è solo un modo per ottenere qualche indizio: ipnotizzare Josef subito. Mentre attraversa in auto una Stoccolma che non è mai stata così buia e gelida, Erik sa già che infrangerà la sua promessa. Accetterà di ipnotizzare Josef. Perché, dentro di sé, sa di averne bisogno. Sa quanto gli è mancato il suo lavoro. Sa che l'ipnosi funziona. Quello che l'ipnotista non sa è che la verità rivelata dal ragazzo sotto ipnosi cambierà per sempre la sua vita. I wish someone would hypnotize me and erase the memory of reading this book. OK, it isn’t that bad from a writing standpoint and basic premise, but it had a lot of buzz that I didn’t think it came close to living up to. I suppose I should say this is a spoiler alert. Read on at your own risk. I continue to be amazed by people's reviews. Many ( most) always begin by giving a summation of the plot. I really liked this novel, and would have given it four stars if not for three things that irked me about the way it was written. 1) The authors (this was written by a married couple) use the present tense in narration (e.g. Joona walks into the room and sits down). I only finished it because I paid for it, dammit, and wanted to see how terrible it would actually get, God help me. Almost all the characters are unlikeable. This is a very dark, horrific story that ranks high in creepiness. Seriously it left me feeling like I needed to take a shower and wash the creep away. The cover would have you beleive that it is comparable to Silence of the Lambs or Stieg Larsson's Millenium series but I have to disagree with that. Leggi tutto
