Firenze, metà del XVI secolo. Lucrezia, figlia di Cosimo de’ Medici, vive nel palazzo di famiglia: è una bambina timida e silenziosa, che ama disegnare e adora gli animali, soprattutto quelli esotici che il padre tiene in cattività.
