Nella periferia di una città qualunque, una Casa si staglia tra le altre, ordinaria e un po’ inquietante. È un istituto dove, per qualche tempo, si raccolgono ragazzi disabili, dall’infanzia all’adolescenza. Ma dal momento in cui varcano quella soglia, tutto cambia. La realtà cessa di esistere e viene rimpiazzata da un altro mondo con regole, leggi e riti spesso crudeli e oscuri. I nuovi eroi – Fumatore, Tabaqui, Lord, Sfinge, Cieco e gli altri – si conoscono e si dividono in gruppi, ingaggiano epiche battaglie nei luoghi a un tempo sconfinati e ristretti della Casa: il Solaio, la Foresta, il Tetto diventano gli scenari di una guerra di desideri, di speranze e di immaginazione, dove la posta in gioco è scegliere se tornare al mondo esterno o rimanere, sospesi per sempre in una realtà fantastica. Nella Casa tutto è possibile: l’amore, l’odio e la morte; la perdita, il dolore e la gioia; nella Casa i ragazzi sono liberi, il tempo si ferma e si dilata smisuratamente. E alla fine, perduta l’infanzia, essi si troveranno di fronte alla prova più difficile: credere alla promessa dell’età adulta e lasciare la Casa o rinunciarvi e rifiutarsi di crescere. Romanzo corale di formazione, fantastico e realistico al tempo stesso, metafora potente dell’adolescenza, La Casa del tempo sospeso è un inno d’amore all’età ingrata e prediletta, alle sue esaltazioni e tragedie, al senso di frustrazione e di onnipotenza che la pervade. Ma la condizione dei ragazzi non è altro che il segno di un sapere più vero e profondo, conquistato attraverso la passione, il sentimento e la speranza.

Поскольку на неё уже сотни рецензий (очень поляризованных, но преобладают восторженные), постараюсь кратко - только самые сильные впечатления. 1) Кто-то сказал "хорош любой жанр кроме скучного". One of those books that demand to be read for the second time - just to see how many nuances you've missed when reading for the first time, how many hints and clues you've passed by without proper attention.
