Sono partiti guerrieri, sono tornati eroi: grazie alla loro scaltrezza, Caphalor e Sinthoras hanno stretto un patto col Demone di Nebbia e lo hanno convinto a spezzare l’incantesimo che difendeva la Porta di Pietra, aprendo così l’unica via d’accesso alla Terra Nascosta a un imponente esercito di albi, orchi e giganti. Quando avranno sbaragliato anche le ultime difese dei nani, Caphalor e Sinthoras potranno finalmente preparare l’attacco contro il loro vero obiettivo: gli odiati elfi. Tuttavia, dopo le prime, esaltanti vittorie, i due albi si rendono conto che l’offensiva non ha avuto il successo sperato e che ben presto si ritroveranno a combattere una lenta e sanguinosa guerra di conquista. Mentre all’orizzonte si staglia l’ombra di una terribile minaccia: il Demone di Nebbia, infatti, non è più intenzionato a sottostare al volere degli albi e, da prezioso alleato, è diventato il loro nemico più pericoloso. Accecato dalla brama di potere, sta radunando un’orda di maghi e di potentissimi Alchemicanti – i custodi di una sostanza in grado di ridurre in cenere perfino l’acciaio –, che presto marcerà sulla capitale del regno degli albi, per fare di lui il signore assoluto di tutte le razze…

These characters established as protagonists in a new setting, are appearing for the first time in a context where they were previously established as clear antagonists. I’m not sure how to rate this book... I’m no fan of the characters most of the time, 90% are just Incredibly cruel. Entertaining anti-heroics with Sinthoras and Caphalor ensure that the first third of the book is good reading material, if you don't mind the älfar being edgy all the time. Lange hab ich gebraucht, um den zweiten Teil endlich zu lesen. Jedoch liebe ich den zweiten Teil. Sein Stil fesselt mich einfach komplett und animiert mich zum Weiterlesen.
