I really wish I liked this more. I've been a fan of Hellboy and the BPRD from the beginning, but this story has just gotten too convoluted over the years and this gigantic finale doesn't really do it justice. All the boxes have been checked. Fanservice has been made. But ultimately I was left thinking that this could have been written so much better. The B.P.R.D. gets the ending it was always going to get, if not necessarily the exact way we might all have expected or wanted. While it's not quite as perfectly satisfying as the end of Hellboy in Hell, it's what it always had to be, and it's more than most comics ever get.
