Il 2 gennaio del 1670 Guillaume Desprez dà alle stampe, a Parigi, "Pensieri" del Signor Pascal sulla religione e su altri argomenti. Sono passati otto anni dalla morte del grande filosofo e l'opera intende essere una monumentale difesa del cristianesimo dai suoi nemici principali, ovvero gli atei, gli ebrei, i musulmani e i libertini, che facevano parte di quella frangia di intellettuali che sognavano un pensiero totalmente scevro dalla fede e una visione critica della religione. L'opera, incompiuta e frammentata, è stata riordinata con un chiaro criterio filologico. Questo volume, contenente anche altri manoscritti del celebre pensatore francese, rappresenta una lettura fondamentale non solo per tutti coloro che si avvicinano allo studio della filosofia, ma anche per i cultori della teologia, della retorica e della letteratura in generale.
