La Verità interrogò la giovane Edith Stein (1891-1942), ebrea e fenomenologa. Afferrata da Gesù, si innamorò della Verità, leggendo la Vita di Teresa di Gesù. Divenne cristiana nel 1922. Docente stimata e pedagoga amata, conferenziera nitida e scrittrice sobria, fu soprattutto un'orante segnata dalla Croce. Entrò nel Carmelo di Colonia nel 1933, quando sul suo popolo e sulla sua patria incombeva l'ombra della Croce nella forma della persecuzione nazista. Nell'eremo carmelitano la ricerca della Verità si approfondì lasciandosi inchiodare alla Croce per amore e coniugando la fede ardente con la scientificità più rigorosa. La Scienza della Croce culminò nella gassazione ad Auschwitz il 9 agosto 1942. La sua ultima opera, Scientia Crucis, ne riporta la consapevolezza gioiosa, perché come ella scrisse: "Croce e notte sono il cammino alla luce celeste: questo è il lieto messaggio della Croce".

A bit of a dense read but a very good explanation of what the Dark Night of the Soul actually entails as a method of getting closer to God. Seems like Edith Stein was all about negative theology, which she considers the proper attitude to get into mysticism.
A great compliment to the writings of St. John of the Cross
I was led by God into the dark night of the soul for 6 yrs. Esta es, al igual que un libro de anatomía avanzado para un internista, una descripción detallada de la relación del alma con Dios en la explicación de una santa a partir de las palabras de otro santo. Lo que de aquí de aprende no encuentra parangón con ninguna catequesis. Lindo libro.
Not an easy read, but well worth it for the powerful insights into the movements of the Spirit.
Wonderful! A saint/martyr helping us understand the teachings of a saint/doctor of the Church. This is no quick and easy read, of course, but well worth careful study and re-reading.
