La nuova produzione del Teatro di Dioniso di Valter Malosti prevede un cantiere di rigenerazione di uno dei testi di Shakespeare meno conosciuti dal pubblico, Venere e Adone. Composto nel 1593, durante la lunga stagione in cui la città venne infestata dalla peste e vennero chiusi i teatri per evitare l'ampliarsi dell'epidemia, Venere e Adone fu il primo testo teatrale di Shakespeare stampato con la sua firma, e fu, durante la sua vita, l'opera maggiormente ristampata: si contano almeno dieci edizioni fino all'anno di morte, a cui se ne aggiungono altre sei entro il 1636. Come è noto Shakespeare trasse ispirazione dal libro decimo delle Metamorfosi di Ovidio: mentre la storia originale si concentra nell'arco di settantacinque versi, il poema inglese si estende per ben 1194 versi.

This was a pretty enjoyable read. It had a lot to do with love and everything do with that emotion. But I liked the way it ended, and I liked the way it was written, with the rhyme and the meter.
