Non c'è più alcun dubbio: il capitalismo si sta avvicinando ai suoi ultimi giorni. I quattro cavalieri che annunciano la ventura Apocalisse sono secondo Slavoj Žižek: la crisi ecologica globale; i gravi squilibri del sistema economico-finanziario; la rivoluzione biogenetica; le esplosive fratture sociali. Ma se per molti la crisi del capitalismo è Armageddon tout court, in che modo la società occidentale sta vivendo il «tempo della fine»? Nello stesso modo in cui si vive un lutto, ovvero, secondo il classico modello psicoanalitico, attraverso le cinque fasi della negazione (nel nostro caso, ideologica), la rabbia, la contrattazione (con il ritorno della critica dell'economia politica), la depressione (ovvero, nei termini di Žižek, la nascita del «Cogito Proletario») e infine l'accettazione: ciascuna di esse costituisce una parte del libro. Solo attraversando questi momenti potremo fare della crisi la possibilità reale, concreta di un nuovo inizio, il viatico per la fondazione della società futura. Per dirla con Mao Zedong: «Grande disordine sotto il cielo: la situazione è eccellente».

I haven't read enough of Zizek yet to be as "tired" of him as some of the other commentators to this thread. Personally I find his style fresh. His eyes are keen.
