Fino a che punto il Vaticano è stato disposto a trattare con il "diavolo", pur di garantire l'assistenza spirituale ai propri fedeli? Sulla base di documenti inediti, l'autore ricostruisce il panorama dei rapporti tra Vaticano e Terzo Reich negli anni che vanno dall'inizio della Repubblica di Weimar allo scoppio della seconda guerra mondiale, con una particolare attenzione al ruolo di Eugenio Pacelli, Pio XII, dalla nomina a nunzio apostolico nel 1917 fino all'elezione a papa nel 1939.

This book was published in 2008 and is based on the authors work on the Vatican archives available at that time. Of course an immense amount more is now available and an immense amount more research has been published based on the new information available but this book is still essential reading.
