Ma il tempo trascorso, il pudore dell’autore, o la tacita presa di coscienza della propria mediocrità che alla lunga aveva avuto la meglio sulla presunta vocazione, avevano fatto cadere nel dimenticatoio questa prova giovanile. Se non che, con una copia del testo tra le mani, si presenta al «vecchio poeta» un giovane autore, che si dichiara estimatore del «maestro» e, insieme alla vivace cerchia di amici, tutti sedicenti artisti, lo convince a ritornare sulla ribalta.
