La storia è ambientata in una Parigi irriconoscibile proiettata in un futuro prossimo, dove la società è organizzata in 3 grandi subuniversi: il luogo dei privilegiati, i quartieri operai e il terzo dove finiscono gli emarginati. Linus Hoppe ha 14 anni e vive con la sua famiglia nella prima "sfera". Per lui è un periodo di grande tensione, tra poche settimane, infatti, dovrà affrontare, con i suoi compagni, un esame importante: saranno "calcolati" dal Grande Computer che, a seconda del punteggio ottenuto, deciderà il loro destino. Un romanzo avvincente, che racconta un futuro grigio e inquietante degno di Orwell, spezzato dal grande coraggio di un ragazzo. Età di lettura: da 12 anni.

This novel is set in Paris, which is probably the reason for the usage of some French language throughout the story. I like a lot of the ideas in the book and found it especially interested as this is the only dystopian teen fiction book that I've been able to get so far that has been written in another country and then translated into English rather than written in the English tradition. Honestly, I actually enjoyed the book. Yes, the ending (that Linus, Yosh, Chem, Zanz, & Mieg were all excited about) was ~17 pages long, and the book was somewhat fast-paced, and yet I loved the main character.
