Quando sua madre le propone di rilevare un cottage a Brecon Beacons, nel Galles, per trasformarlo in un Bed&Breakfast, Kirsty è ben felice di accettare. Dopo l’esaurimento nervoso del marito Adrian, sia loro sia le figlie hanno bisogno di un nuovo inizio. Certo, i lavori da fare sono tanti e la gente del posto non accoglie le novità con entusiasmo, tuttavia Kirsty è convinta di poter superare ogni ostacolo. Ciò che non può tollerare, però, è vivere sotto lo stesso tetto con la cugina Selena, che un giorno si presenta alla sua porta. Le due donne non si parlano da diciassette anni, da quando le bugie di Selena hanno quasi distrutto la famiglia. E infatti ancora una volta la sua presenza destabilizza il delicato equilibrio della casa, soprattutto perché Selena nel giro di breve tempo si fa raggiungere dall'ex fidanzato e dal fratello di Kirsty, che ha con lei un rapporto burrascoso. A ciò si aggiunge una serie di eventi sempre più inquietanti: prima spariscono dei giocattoli dalla stanza delle bambine, poi un bouquet di fiori marci viene lasciato di fronte all'ingresso del cottage, e infine Kirsty trova un cappio nella mansarda, chiara allusione al tentato suicidio di Adrian. Possibile che Selena si sia spinta a tanto? O è qualcun altro a tormentare Kirsty e la sua famiglia? Una cosa è certa: quelle minacce diventeranno presto una tragica realtà…

What I liked about Do Not Disturb is how the story slowly unravels the real threat in the story. 3.5 Stars for Do Not Disturb (audiobook) by Claire Douglas read by Hannah Daniel. This is the book to read if you’re feeling like your family is dysfunctional. My family is not nearly as crazy as I thought they were.
I have been a fan of Claire Douglas' previous books but this one was definitely favourite. I started this in the afternoon and stayed up late to finish it last night. Not too sure about this one. I finished it a couple of days ago and waited for it to ‘settle’ in my mind. Did I enjoy it? I've loved this author's previous books and I did thoroughly enjoy "Do Not Disturb " in that page turning, how will it end way that shows you have an absorbing book on your hands.
