Progetta i tuoi cittadini e le tue cittadine ideali; 6. Lascia che ridano dell’orrore; 7. Costruisci il tuo paese.
Dove siamo arrivati in Italia? Forse al punto 4? Siamo già al 5? A che punto è la Gran Bretagna della Brexit e di Nigel Farage? E la Russia di Putin? L’Ungheria di Orbán? Gli Stati Uniti di Trump? Perché una cosa si comprende amaramente bene, leggendo queste pagine appassionate: il percorso è sempre lo stesso, inizia senza allarmare, ma poi procede sempre, inesorabile, verso il punto nel quale ci si accorge che ormai la democrazia è svanita. I populisti, in crescita in tutto il mondo, fanno più o meno gli stessi discorsi ovunque. Li fanno a nome delle «persone perbene», del «popolo», sottintendendo così che chi non li appoggia non fa davvero parte del popolo, quindi è un «nemico interno».
Come sfasciare un paese in sette mosse è un appassionato appello al mondo: fate attenzione – ci dice Temelkuran – il populismo e il nazionalismo non marciano trionfalmente verso il governo, ci strisciano dentro di nascosto. Bisogna essere vigili più che mai o ce li ritroveremo in casa senza accorgercene fino al punto d’arrivo finale: la dittatura.
