Sinossi

The Devil's Reward is a character-driven story with very little plot; however, unlike some recent novels that explore an elderly person's life, The Devil's Reward does very little to make Leggi tutto
This seems to be the type of novel that would appeal to a very certain subset of readers, of which I am not one. While the premise initially drew me in, I found the diction and syntax to be more elevated than I expected and certainly more complex for the subject matter. While I have enjoyed book sim Leggi tutto
Christiane’s family might never have managed to reconnect if it weren’t for Rudolf Steiner and an affair. When The Devil’s Reward , by Emmanuelle de Villepin and translated by C. Jon Delogu, opens, Christiane extends an invitation to her daughter and granddaughter to come and stay with her in Paris. Leggi tutto
I wanted to read this book at first because of the cover. The book was to be honest slow to get into, but by the end I really enjoyed it. The book is told by Christiane the matriarch of the family. She begins to tell stories from her families’ past to help her granddaughter with her thesis on Steine Leggi tutto
